Description
This lovely Danish rosewood dining table is a comfortable 12 seater , and designed by John Mortensen for Heltborg Mobler . Its model HM55 and is illustrated in the Danish Design Index . This is the rarely seen large oval version which extends from 190cms x 123 cms to a maximum 290 cms , with 2 extension leaves of 50cms each . It was also made in teak or oak , and there is also a circular version . We’ve found a few of the circular ones for sale , and also a smaller version of this oval one . Most Danish dining tables from this era are 8/10 seaters or smaller , then there are 10/12 seaters which will seat 10 comfortably , but we rate this as even more unusual comfortable 12 seater . The pedestal design means that there are no legs to worry about , yet it’s extremely stable even when fully extended due to the quality of design and manufacture¬† . It’s a wonderful colour , and unusually the leaves are not darker the table itself , so it’s probably been kept covered when not in use as there are no signs of fading .
