A lovely curved shaped, mid century sofa and as with all Danish sofas from circa 1960 its got a really well made frame, so well worth re-upholstering. We recently delivered to 2 customers with sofas only 5 years old that were expensive new, one said the springs were already going , and the other that the cushions weren’t proving comfortable ! We reckon if its well enough made to survive for 40 or 50 years its going to last another 40 or more years by giving it a loving makeover .
Add some Pure Imagination by choosing a lovely fabric to suit your home and your lifestyle . We have a number of suggestions for you on here , and can arrange for samples to be sent to you (always advised as colours can look different depending on your computer and lighting) , or perhaps you’ve seen something elsewhere.
It does need re-upholstery, firstly to meet UK Fire Regulations, and secondly as the original fabric is worn, slightly dirty and needs replacement. You can buy ” as is ” and use your own upholsterer or you can use our upholstere , and expect to pay around £425-£475 inc VAT , plus fabric ( depending on detailing ). Most of the fabrics we show on the site will add another £400-£600. Re-upholstery includes using a fire-retardant barrier cloth to crib 5 ( commercial use which is higher than needed for domestic use ) .
The legs unscrew ( as with many Danish sofas ) and are in light oak. This along with the construction dates it to the late 1950s or very early 1960s. Pieces from circa 1960 are usually better made than those from circa 1970 with only a few exceptions ! There are 3 legs to the back and 2 to the front , so its very stable .
