1960’s Ercol light easy chair model 427 with rare matching ottoman stool
In solid beech with a polished natural colour with waxed finish in great vintage condition. The upholstery looks to be recently re-done and is in lovely condition with foam that has been replaced. The chair does come up for sale but rarely with the matching ottoman footstool. Very few people bought the stools back in the 1960’s and when this chair does appear with a stool it is the more common Bergere stool which is plainer in form.
The original catalog description of the chair reads “In this light but immensely strong easy chair the revolutionary conception of the design leaves the entire sitting area of the seat and back completely free from any frame constructional cross rails. This allows the reinforced rubber suspension in conjunction with the foam-filled cushions to conform exactly to your shape. You can feel the chairs fitting the whole of your back.”
Our upholsterer can quote for new zipped covers to be made in the fabric of your choice and we can arrange for samples to be sent to you from Romo, Camira and Abraham Moon who between them have a large array of colours in velvets, wools and linens etc.
