1960s Toothill Wentworth sofa daybed for re-upholstery

1960s Toothill Wentworth sofa daybed for re-upholstery

Having not had this model for a few years we get 2 within a few weeks , as well as a pair of Wentworth chairs and another rare Toothill sofa daybed !

The Wentworth was Toothill’s most distinctive design in the 1960s with its afromosia dark teak frame and moveable arms and copper fittings it stands out as being totally different from any other British or Scandinavian design of the time . It’s beautifully made and when the arms are swung out it can be used as a daybed or even a temporary bed settee .

This one although it needs to be re-upholstered still retains its original fluffy ” lambs wool ” type fabric , which was a Toothill speciality back in the day . We’ve seen a couple new pieces in lambs wool recently , but back in the 1960s it was imitation leathers and fabrics which were all the rage , whereas today it’s natural materials .

Our price includes new webbing , new foam cushions all upholstered in customers own fabric . You can see various fabrics from Camira , Abraham Moon , Romo , Warwick and Eleanor Pritchard on this site , and our upholsterer can arrange for samples to be sent on request . If you wish to provide your own fabric that is fine , but please discuss this with our upholsterer .
