Erik Kirkegaard is one of many little known Danish furniture designers from the 1950s and 1960s . He is best known for his chair designs , and this model is definitely the most stylish of his pieces .
We’ve also had this model before in rosewood , but we think it looks even better in teak , particularly as the makers have used the most beautifully grained teak that you will see on the chair backs .
The makers Hong Stolefabrik , which translates as Hong chairmaker naturally specialised in chair making , and the seat pads are stamped with their mark .
We bought the chairs separately and have had the teak cleaned and the seat pads re-upholstered in black vinyl to crib 5 ( suitable for UK commercial and domestic use ) , as the original black vinyl was well worn .
