This three seater Danish sofa is known as the Matador sofa, Designed by Aage Christiansen for the small manufacturer Erhardsen and Andersen. The design is from the 1960’s and can be seen in the 1966 Danish interiors advert of the time. This one is ready for the upholstery to be finished and we also have the matador chair ready for completion too. Although in Denmark during this period it was rare for sets to be bought together, the matching designs make it possible to create your own sets now.
The quality of this mid century sofa is excellent, a much heavier structure than some from the period. The upholstery was in pretty poor condition when we bought it, so it has been stripped and cleaned and a barrier fabric has been used to tidy it up and bring it up to meet fire regulations. Now it is a blank canvas, It’s your choice of colour and fabric to finish it. The price of £1600 is for the finished item in either one of our pure new wools or cotton velvets. If you would like to provide your own fabric please make sure it is suitable for upholstery and you would need 8 meters. Samples are available.
