Finn Juhl has to be in the top 3 of Danish mid-century designers , and the makers France + Son one of the most sought after makers of the period .
Unlike most Danish dining tables its a 10-12 seater when fully extended , most being 8 -10 . The previous owners used to have 5 chairs at either side , and a bench at each end and managed 14 ! Also unusual is that its made of solid teak throughout . As with 95% of Danish tables of the era the legs unscrew so its easy to deliver or store when not in use .
It’s apparently Model 540 and as far as we can find out it was first seen in The France + Son catalogue of April 1963 . From family information it was bought new at Maples of London c 1964 .
We’ve cleaned and re-polished it , but there is still 1 scratch showing if you look closely under a strong light . Further photos are available .
Useable without leaves or with 1 or both leaves . Table height 72cms .
Materials: solid teak
Dimensions: 186cms x 100cms plus 2 leaves of 50cms
