G Plan Danish Design 3 seat sofa designed by Ib Kofod Larsen c 1962
This rarely seen stylish sofa was designed in around 1962 and made by G Plan in small numbers until c1966 . It has been re-upholstered at some point , probably in the 1990s . The foam interior and cushions and structure are sound and the peach/pink fabric upholstery is in good vintage condition with no tears or bad marks . Our upholsterer has re-upholstered one before and can quote for re-upholstery in your choice of fabric . If you go to our other website www.pureimaginations.co.uk you’ll see various fabrics by Abraham Moon , Camira , Warwick ,Romo and Eleanor Pritchard all of which we can recommend and can arrange for samples to be sent if required .
Ib Kofod Larsen was one of the top Danish designers of the Mid-Century period and was highly successful working for Danish , Swedish and American companies as well as G Plan in the UK . The Danish Design range was aimed at stylish buyers who wanted Danish design at a sensible price , but who were prepared to spend a bit more than they would for standard G Plan pieces . As a result it’s nowhere near as easy to find as their standard pieces . It’s stylish and like all vintage G Plan it’s well made . Its over 50 years old and still looks modern and unlike all but the most expensive pieces available today it’s survived over 50 years of use!
