G Plan Danish Design pair of armchairs designed by Ib Kofod Larsen c 1962
These lovely stylish chairs came with the matching 3 seater sofa which we’ve just listed at £950 . If you want to buy the full set then we’re pricing all 3 pieces together at £1600 .
All pieces have been re-upholstered at some point in a peach/pink fabric probably in the 1990s . The foam interior and cushions and structure are in great condition , and the fabric is in good vintage condition with no signs of wear and no obvious marks . Our upholsterer completely re-upholstered an identical set a couple of years ago for a customer in Aberdeen so can easily quote for re-upholstery and quantity of fabric required . If you’re interested in having them re-upholstered then have a look at our www.pureimaginations.co.uk website where we show fabrics by Abraham Moon ,Camira , Warwick , Romo and Eleanor Pritchard . We can arrange for samples to be sent and will advise on colours and designs if required so just ask .
The G Plan Danish Design range was introduced in 1962 and produced until around 1967 . It was a premium range at the time and was aimed at trendy stylish customers who wanted Danish design at less than it would cost to buy Danish pieces , but were prepared to spend more than they would for standard G Plan pieces . Ib Kofod Larsen was a top Danish designer in the 1950s and 60s who worked for Danish , Swedish and American makers as well for G Plan in the UK . G Plan quality was extremely consistent in the 1960s and 70s and so all their pieces are nicely made . These pieces have survived over 50 years and with care will easily last another 50 years . You may see similar styles in the shops again today , but it’s unlikely that they will be made to this standard even when costing much more than these vintage pieces .
The teak legs and metal exterior fittings are all in good vintage condition .
