Teak, G Plan sofa bed designed by Ib Kofod Larsen.
Designed c 1962 by the renowned Danish designer Ib Kofod Larsen for G Plan as a premium range for people who liked Danish furniture but not its price ! Lovely detailing as you can expect from this designer , along with teak from the early 60s , which we think is richer in colour and better than teak found in 1970s pieces .
Its designed as a double when folded flat as a bed , but it will be a small double .
The frame has been cleaned and re-polished and the first stage of re-upholstery with a barrier fabric ready for your choice of fabric ( 5 metres needed ) .
The 1963 G Plan Danish catalogue says ” Even though prices are below that of imported furniture , this furniture cannot be called cheap , for it takes time and a great deal of skilled labour to produce furniture as superbly made as this . But remember this is furniture that will beautify your home for a lifetime ” . By imported they meant from Denmark , and over 50 years later its still stylish , practical , and with new upholstery ready for another home . How many pieces bought new today will it be possible to say the same about !!
