Kurt Ostervig teak nest for Jason Mobler of Denmark
Kurt Ostervig was one of the most talented and successful designers in Denmark in the 1950s and 60s . With Hans Wegner , Arne Jacobsen and Finn Juhl being the undoubted top 3 , there were then others such as Kai Kristiansen , Illum Wikkelso , Arne Vodder and a handful more that came up with many stunning designs . Kurt Ostervig is amongst this second group of influential mid-century Danish designers .
We’ve had the larger table before on its own as well as the rosewood version of this nest .Like this one they weren’t labelled or marked , but its a well known design . It’s a lovely simple and stylish design with lovely high quality detailing . It dates to the golden age of Danish design which was the early to mid 1960s .
They’ve been cleaned and oiled as after some 50 something years of use they did have a few marks . As with all vintage furniture you may still see very some very signs of wear if you examine it very closely .
