Rare Guy Rogers New Yorker Sofabed.
The New Yorker sofa from Guy Rogers is mainly seen with a fixed back, this rare version is the sofabed with a simple mechanism which lays the back down flat making a decent size put me up bed.
The Afromosia/dark teak frame has been restored, new pirelli webbing straps fitted and foam cushions which comply with fire standards have been cut ready for the finishing top fabric of the buyers choice. 6 meters of fabric will be required so for example in plain pure new wool the cost of the fabric would be £360, in a Cotton linara plain fabric £240 the fabric cost is extra. The listed price of the sofa includes the upholstery work to make zipped cushions for the base and back. We can help with fabric choices and get colour samples sent directly to you. The New Yorker is more sculptural and Scandinavian in style than their successful Manhattan range that is more commonly seen today. The Manhattan is in the 1961 catalogue we have, the New Yorker follows slightly later in the 1967 catalogue. The New Yorker was originally 20% more expensive than the Manhattan range. At the time that was considered to be a big price difference which would of been down to the quality.
