Stag S Range teak sideboard John and Sylvia Reid
The S Range designed by John and Sylvia Reid in 1959 for Stag was really radical at the time and was therefore bought in small numbers . A very early use of teak by a British manufacturer as firms like G Plan and McIntosh only used it from c 1962 . Apparently it was withdrawn c 1963 .It’s now considered to be a British design classic . We last had one in 2016 so it’s taken us 4 years to find another . We have seen others during this time , but mostly in really poor condition whereas this one was in good vintage condition when we bought it .
We’ve had it cleaned and oiled as it had quite a few small marks to the top after over 50 years of use . The original black laminate strip was as often the case slightly knocked with a piece missing , so we’ve had it replaced by a local specialist company . Its now ready for the next 50 or 60 years of its life .
Teak veneered on nickel steel plated feet .Its 137cms wide , 70cms high , 45.5cms deep . The teak is a lovely colour and the internal drawers and slides are in excellent vintage condition , so unlike some it has been cared for for nearly 60 years .
Materials: teak veneer on metal legs
