Super sleek Mogens Kold teak sideboard by Arne Hovmand Olsen
This is the longer version of this fantastic design from 1964 . It’s model MK511 . We love all Mogens Kold pieces as they’re always beautifully made and this design is Arne Hovmand Olsen at his best , the cleanest of lines as there no obvious handles , yet the drawers and cupboards open with ease . This is minimalism from well before the term was coined !
It’s 240cms long , 71cms high and 46cms deep . The legs are removeable . It doesn’t have it’s makers badge , but there is an elongated oval insert to the back where it may have originally been .
It was bought new in 1965 by the original owners who are now downsizing . It’s been cleaned and oiled and looks lovely , but as with all vintage pieces you do have to expect very minor signs of wear after over 50 years of careful use .
In one of the photos we’ve shown it with a matching chest of drawers that we already had from the same series , so this is a rare opportunity to have both if required .
If you like the design , but want a smaller cheaper model we also have a White and Newton Chilgrove designed in 1967 which has a very similar look to this . We’re currently writing a blog about the 2 sideboards which we managed to source within a few days of each other . Both rarely come up for sale so we were very pleased to be able to get them .
