Set of 4 Mogens Kold 1960s teak dining chairs designed by Arne Hovmand Olsen
The Danish quality maker Mogens Kold is one of the better known Mid-Century makers and these lovely sculptural teak chairs are one of the nicest designs that they made . Arne Hovmand Olsen was their go-to designer at the time , but they occasionally used other designers . This model is seen with papercord seats or with upholstered seats , and like many vintage models seems mainly to turn up in sets of 4 . Mogens Kold usually labelled their pieces well and this set is no exception as you’ll see .
We’ve given the chairs a light clean and oil and they have come up beautifully . The structures are solid . The original papercord is as so often the case marked in a few places , but the tops are all solid and in good vintage condition . A couple have small stapled repairs to the cord underneath , but nothing that will affect their use . We have a 5th chair ( a few people did buy 5 back in the day ) , but this has slightly more wear to the cord , but is still useable . Our price is for 4 .
It came with a Danish circular dining table by an unknown maker which is currently awaiting restoration . We also have another similar table by a known maker also waiting to be cleaned and oiled . Both have 2 leaves and legs that unscrew , and both would work well with these lovely chairs , so please ask for details if when you read this they’re not yet on the website !
